The finished drawing of the Four de Renges

If you want to stop by for a visit, you can check out the website www.fourderenges.ch for this year's agenda.

I have finished most of the drawing at this point. My next post will be the finished drawing. This is the chaudron that we use for our hot wine (vin chaud) for the Advent Window we host in December. We have also recently renovated the old press in an adjoining room where we pressed pears and apples. We reduce the juice of the fruit in the chaudron to make a résiné.

I finished drawing the door of the oven. The door is made of cast iron with a steel latch and handle. The metal plate in front of the door is made of steel. I worked the steel plate with 4H to smooth the paper. The surrounding wall is a very pourrus crépie. Kind of like stucco I guess.

Those who know the oven well will notice that I fixed the latch on the door in the drawing. It's still broken though.

One of my objectives with the drawing was to draw the Four de Renges with none of the little imperfections that we have not gotten around to fixing.

Moving from left to right I have finished the initial shading of the stone support and the ash bin.

The ash bin is a steel bin with a steel cover. The discoloration on the bin is from oxidation. This oven is over three feet in diameter. It takes several days to heat it to temperature. On the last day all the coals and ash from the wood burning must be removed from the inside of the oven and placed into this bin

Close-up Four de Renges

This close-up shows how I used light to give a curve to the concrete that meets with the wooden cross beam. You can see in the previous update that this area is flat. I also worked on the tones of the wood and stone.
